Cape Henlopen Fishing Pier, Lewes, DE
The Fishing Pier at Cape Henlopen is quite long at an estimated 1,300′ ft in length and extends into the Delaware Bay just inside the Atlantic Ocean. The pier when originally constructed was some 1,800 feet long, but with natural deterioration over the 70+ years it has stood, portions have been removed over safety concerns. It was recently renovated between 2014-2015 and has been around since World War II as an original part of the Fort Miles Military Base.
